Finding grants in Matches

Grants Last updated 17 October 2026 4 min read

Matches is the Grant Explorer, where every scheme is ranked against your startup. This is where most founders spend their time. Here is how to read it and find the grants worth applying to.

Quick summary Open Matches. The list is ranked for your active startup, strongest fits first. Search or filter to narrow it, read the verdict on each card, then open a grant for full detail and the Apply button. Use Set alert to save a grant you want to watch.

Open Matches

Select Matches in the app. This opens the Grant Explorer: the catalog of grants, schemes and investors, ranked for whichever startup is active in your startup switcher. If you run more than one startup, check the switcher first so you are looking at the right list.

How the list is ranked

Grants are not listed alphabetically or by deadline. They are ranked for your profile. Schemes from your own state come first, then nearby states, and a sector match or a checked apply link lifts a grant further. If you are in the Gulf, you also see programmes open across all six GCC states. As you scroll down, fit gets looser.

If you switch startups, the list re-ranks for the newly active startup.

Search and filter

Search by name when you already know the scheme, or use Ask AI to describe what you want in plain words. The filters cover country or region, sector and stage, plus Eligible only, Best fits only, New this week, Closing this month, Equity-free, VCs and Indo-Middle East. Tabs split the list into Grants, Schemes and Investors. Filtering is the fastest way to cut a long list down to a shortlist you can work through, and you can export the results to CSV.

Read the verdict on each card

Every card carries one of four verdicts, never a percentage:

Cards also show requirement chips such as Needs DPIIT, Needs Udyam/MSME or Women-led only, and a deadline pill that turns amber inside 30 days and red inside 7. For what feeds the verdict, see how eligibility scoring works.

Open a grant and apply

Click any card for the full detail: what it funds, the amount, eligibility, deadline and how to apply. Check eligibility runs a fuller check against your profile. When you are ready, Apply on portal opens the funder's own site and starts tracking the grant in Applications. A "Verified link" badge means the link has been checked. If our checker thinks a link is dead, the button reads "Verify on official site" and takes you to the organisation's homepage instead.

Save grants and searches

Set alert saves a grant to your watchlist, shown as "Saved" on this screen and in Saved in the menu. You get an email if a grant you saved is about to close or opens again. You can also save up to 25 searches and re-run them later.

Tip Do not stop at the strong matches. A worth a look grant with a large amount and a far-off deadline can be a better use of time than a strong match closing in three days. Open a few and compare before you commit.

Common questions

How do I search for grants?

Open Matches. Search by name, ask in plain words, or filter by country or region, sector and stage to narrow the list to grants that fit you.

How often does the catalog update?

Weekly. New programmes are added and apply links are re-checked every week. A link confirmed dead twice is removed, so you are not chasing dead pages.
