Finding grants in the Grants tab

Grants 4 min read

The Grants tab is the Grant Explorer, where every scheme is ranked against your startup. This is where most founders spend their time. Here is how to read it and find the grants worth applying to.

Quick summary Open the Grants tab. The feed is ranked for your active startup, strongest matches first. Search and filter to narrow it, read the score badge on each card, then open a grant for full detail and the Apply link.

Open the Grants tab

Select Grants in the app navigation. This opens the Grant Explorer: the full catalogue of grants and schemes, scored for whichever startup is active in your startup switcher. If you run more than one startup, check the switcher first so you are looking at the right list.

How the feed is ranked

Grants are not listed alphabetically or by deadline. They are ranked for your profile, with the strongest fits at the top. Ranking weighs how well a grant matches your stage, sector, and state, among other factors, so the grants most likely to be worth your time surface first. As you scroll down, fit gets looser.

If you switch startups, the feed re-ranks for the newly active startup. The order you see always reflects the startup you are currently working on.

Search and filter

Use search to jump straight to a scheme by name when you already know what you are looking for. Use the filters to narrow the feed to grants that fit a specific need, for example a sector, a region, or a relevance level. Filtering is the fastest way to cut a long feed down to a shortlist you can actually work through.

Read the score badge on each card

Every grant card carries a score badge with one of three verdicts:

The badge is meant to be honest, not flattering. For the full breakdown of what feeds the score, see how eligibility scoring works.

Open a grant for full detail

Click any card to open the grant. Inside you get the full detail: what it funds, the amount, eligibility, deadline, and how to apply. When you are ready to move forward, use the Apply link on the grant to start tracking it. From there it flows into the Apply tab, where you manage it through your pipeline.

Tip Do not stop at the strong matches. A worth a look grant with a large amount and a far-off deadline can be a better use of time than a strong match closing in three days. Open a few and compare before you commit.
