Central government schemes and platforms
Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), NITI Aayog
WEP is the government's aggregator for women entrepreneurs. It is not a single grant but a platform that bundles mentorship, funding leads, incubation, compliance help, and partner programs in one place. For a first-time founder it is a sensible starting point because it surfaces opportunities you would not find individually.
- Best for, women founders at any stage wanting a curated entry point

Stand-Up India
Stand-Up India facilitates bank loans for setting up greenfield enterprises, with each eligible bank branch mandated to support at least one woman borrower and one SC or ST borrower. Loans are for new manufacturing, services, or trading units, with a portion of the project cost expected from the borrower and the rest as a composite loan.
- Best for, women setting up a new enterprise who need term and working-capital financing

PM MUDRA Yojana
MUDRA loans (Shishu, Kishore, and Tarun tiers) provide collateral-free credit to micro and small non-corporate enterprises through banks and microfinance institutions. Women borrowers are a priority group and some lenders offer concessional terms. It is one of the most accessible first loans for a small women-led business.

Bank schemes built for women
Several public-sector banks run dedicated women-entrepreneur products with concessional interest or relaxed terms, for example schemes in the Cent Kalyani and similar families. Terms change, so confirm current details with the bank, but it is worth asking your lender specifically for their women-entrepreneur product rather than a generic business loan.
The startup grant track still applies
Women founders are also fully eligible for the mainstream startup schemes, and should pursue both tracks. The biggest non-dilutive grant for early-stage startups, SISFS, is open to women-led startups, and DPIIT recognition is the prerequisite for it. Do not treat women-specific schemes as a replacement for the main grant route, treat them as additional.
- DPIIT recognition, the master key, see our step-by-step guide
- SISFS, up to ₹50L through approved incubators, see the SISFS guide
- MSME schemes, Udyam plus collateral-free credit, see the MSME guide
State programs for women founders
Many states run women-focused entrepreneurship programs, often with grants, subsidised incubation, or dedicated cells. A few notable ones:
| State | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Kerala | KSUM runs women-focused startup support and a Women Entrepreneurship program. See our Kerala / KSUM guide. |
| Karnataka | State startup programs (Elevate, Idea2POC) with women-founder consideration. See the Karnataka guide. |
| Tamil Nadu | StartupTN runs dedicated women-founder initiatives alongside TANSEED. See the Tamil Nadu guide. |
| Most states | Check your state startup policy for a women-entrepreneur clause, many add extra grant percentage or relaxed criteria for women-led ventures. |
Private funds and accelerators backing women founders
Beyond government money, a growing set of private funds and programs invest specifically in women-led startups. These are equity or accelerator routes, not grants, but they are some of the most active backers of women founders in India and globally:
- She Capital, an India-focused fund investing in women-led consumer and tech startups
- Kalaari CXXO, a program backing women founders with capital and structured support
- SoGal Foundation and SoGal Ventures, global community and capital for diverse founders, including India
- Female Founders Fund and BBG Ventures, global early-stage funds focused on women-led companies
- Saha Fund and similar India funds, with a women-entrepreneur thesis
These are listed in the Incubateer catalog along with their typical stage and focus, so you can see which are a realistic fit before reaching out.
